Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

An air conditioner or heat pump uses its refrigerant to cool and dehumidify the air before it’s streamed back into your home. This liquid is contained within the coils of a cooling system, but one of the most widely used refrigerants that’s been in use for many years – the R-22 (Freon) is now being gradually eliminated due to environmental concerns. In fact, this phase-out was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Air Act. Production of R-22 will cease by 2020.

Introducing R-410A

R-410AChlorine-free and ozone-friendly, R-410A is recognized by the EPA. R-410A will keep your home cool without damaging the environment. Even better news, Lennox’s most highly efficient systems are made to use this AC refrigerant, which can help your system function efficiently. The same Lennox systems are known for durability, quiet operation and better dehumidification, so you’re sure to stay comfortable.

Additional Considerations

At Campbell's Tempracure in Crystal Lake, our cooling offerings can work with R-410A. If your system was made before 2010, you may want to consider replacing your cooling system now, before R-22 is completely phased out. Some manufacturers carry alternate refrigerants such as R-407C, R-438A and R-422, however, they may not work with an R-22 AC or heat pump and could compromise your system’s performance.
